Chameleon Carignane North Coast 2005
|
NEW RELEASE! This deeply-colored and finely-nuanced wine was crafted from 55-year-old vines in Solano County’s Green Valley. Light, sandy-loam soils combined with warm days and cool nights, thanks to its proximity to Suisun Bay, allow for full development of the flavors and intense pigmentation for which this venerable variety is renowned.
Its violet, chocolate and cherry aromas are echoed on the palate, supported on a framework of sturdy tannins and firm acidity which, while encouraging current consumption with roast chicken, turkey or pork, will carry it gracefully through the next three to four years in the bottle. 94 points/GOLD MEDAL/Best of Appellation: 2007 CA State Fair GOLD MEDAL: 2007 Orange County Fair
Food & Wine Guide 2008: Star Producers/Other CA Reds lists Chameleon as #3 in the category of 'Best Value'. Here is their review: ** 2005 Carignane: "California Carignane often goes into anonymous blends, but this medium- bodied wine shows the variety's potential to charm with bright raspberry and orange flavors accented by flowers and spice".
