 This Zinfandel from the Morgan Ranch in Gordon Valley features a wealth of rich black and red fruit aromas in the nose and on the palate. The flavors of blackberry and raspberry are draped in velvety tannins, while excellent acidity supports the voluptuous mouthfeel. The fully-ripened but not overripe expression of the fruit means that matching this delicious wine with a wide variety of food possibilities is a fairly simple exercise, not an exercise in futility as it might be with a more over-the-top rendition. As such, it is a natural with many grilled meats or fowl as well as dishes with a more piquant twist.
Its depth of flavor, alcohol, acidity and fine tannic structure will allow for a good 4 to 7 years of cellaring at least, though it will be hard to resist for near term consumption.
